"Optimal VLBI baseline geometry for UT1-UTC Intensive observations" by Schartner et al. (2021)

A new open access paper of Matthias Schartner et al. was published in the Journal of Geodesy. Together with colleagues of TU Wien, the best geometry of a two-station VLBI "Intensive" baseline is investigated and identified, which is needed to determine the highly variable Earth's rotation expressed through the difference between Universal Time UT1 and Coordinated Universal Time UTC (dUT1).
Within this study new insights are gained and common assumptions are proven to be not generally valid. An interesting study that is definitely worth reading!
