Welcome Leonardo!
We are happy to announce that Leonardo Trentini joined the Space Geodesy group as a new Ph.D. student.

Leonardo Trentini completed his Bachelor’s degrees in Mathematical Engineering (2022) at Politecnico di Milano and earned his Master’s degree in Computational Science and Engineering at EPFL (2025). During his Master’s studies, he specialized in Scientific Machine Learning, Numerical Analysis and Graph Theory. His Master’s thesis, pursued at Stanford University, focused on a Graph Neural Networks approach to model time-dependent partial differential equations.
Leonardo’s Ph.D. research will focus on machine learning models for weather. In the context of the AWARE project, he will work on mapping the atmospheric water vapour using GNSS data, and he will study how to exploit this mapping to enhance nowcasting of severe weather events.
We are looking forward to working together and wish him a pleasant and successful time in his new position!
