Inaugural Lecture of Prof. Benedikt Soja
Finally, 1.5 years after the start of Prof. Benedikt Soja at ETH Zurich, his inaugural lecture took place. The event took place in a hybrid form - virtually and in presence at the ETH main building.
The title of the very interesting and appealing presentation was "Machine Learning – a New Chapter in Geodetic Earth Observation". After explaining the term geodesy and looking back in history picking out some revolutionary steps in geodesy, Prof. Benedikt Soja highlighted new challenges and opportunities and presented the research of his group which is focusing on using machine learning in geodetic tasks.
